His current field of interest is bone and soft tissue tumors involving the upper limbs, lower limbs, pelvis and spine. He is formally trained in limb salvage surgeries involving the extremities and performs a wide range of surgeries and biological reconstructions such as curettage and bone cement/bone graft reconstructions, rotationplasty, cryosurgery (limb salvage using liquid Nitrogen), extra corporeal radiation therapy (destroying the tumor cells using radiation and placing the bone back into the body), megaprosthetic replacement of shoulder, elbow, hip, distal femur, proximal tibia and buddy bone transfers involving the forearm, leg and nail cement spacers of the upper limb and lower limb with primary aim of complete oncological clearance of the tumor followed by optimal reconstruction to give the patients the best possible functional outcome.
Sarcomas are rare tumors and an integrated multidisciplinary clinic and team with a structured sarcoma tumor board facilitate team coordination and communication. Dr Srinath Gupta and his team have a close co-operation and decision making to optimize the outcome.
Apart from management of primary bone tumors, he is an expert in treatment of patients with cancer involving other organs of the body which have metastasized to the bones – providing them with pain free solutions and bone strengthening.
