Dr. D. Baskaran is a surgical oncologist with a robust academic background and specialised expertise in minimally invasive cancer surgery. He earned his MBBS from Madras Medical College, Chennai (2005–2010), followed by an MS in General Surgery from Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry (2012–2015). To further advance his proficiency in cancer care, he pursued M.Ch in Surgical Oncology at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai (2020 – 2023), where he received training in complex oncological procedures at a leading national cancer centre. His surgical and teaching experience at some of India’s foremost medical institutions spanning a decade has fostered a deep commitment to clinical excellence, patient-centred care, evidence based medicine, and ongoing academic growth. His primary research interest lies in colorectal oncology, driven by the rising burden of colorectal cancers in India and globally, especially early-onset colorectal cancer. He is particularly interested in exploring the role of minimally invasive surgical techniques, optimizing perioperative care, and examining the impact of lifestyle factors such as exercise and nutrition in colorectal cancer prevention and outcomes.
