Dr. Nisha Hariharan is a highly experienced Consultant and Breast Oncoplastic surgeon with over a decade of experience in the field. Currently, she manages her own unit at Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital in Hyderabad.
Dr. Nisha received her surgical degree from Grant Medical College and Sir. J. J. Group of Hospitals, Mumbai and then went on to complete a certified HBNI Fellowship in Breast Oncology at Tata Memorial Hospital. She has previously held positions at S.L Raheja Hospital and Apollo Hospitals, Mumbai.
Her clinical expertise includes conservative breast cancer surgeries, sentinel node biopsies and early detection of disease. She is highly skilled in oncoplastic techniques, consistently achieving strong oncological control along with excellent cosmetic outcomes. She routinely undertakes localized breast conservation following chemotherapy, including targeted axillary dissection when indicated. She also counsels women with hereditary risk or a significant family history of breast cancer and plans risk-reducing prophylactic mastectomies with whole-breast reconstruction in coordination with the plastic surgery team. She is an active member of the multidisciplinary tumor board, contributing to complex, individualized treatment planning.
Dr. Nisha is a well-respected member of the medical community, having presented her work at several national and international conferences including the European Society of Oncology, Union for International Cancer Control, Asian Breast Surgery Forum (Project ECHO), Indian Cancer Congress and the Association of Breast Surgeons of India. She has been a Lead Investigator in multiple national and international clinical trials and is well-trained in clinical research and data analysis.
In her free time, Dr. Nisha is dedicated to spreading awareness in the community and routinely conducts live discussions and counselling sessions on early detection of breast cancer with women of all ages and backgrounds.
