Senior Consultant in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology, Dr. Hemant Nemade is a dedicated, compassionate, and patient-focused surgeon. Known for his calm and reassuring communication style, he takes special care to help patients and their families clearly understand the nature of the disease, available treatment options, and expected outcomes, enabling them to make informed and practical decisions.
Education:
Dr. Nemade completed his postgraduate training in Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) from Topiwala National Medical College and BYL Nair Charitable Hospital, Mumbai, a premier teaching institution. He subsequently pursued advanced Fellowship training in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology at Tata Medical Center, Kolkata, one of India’s leading cancer institutes.
He has received additional specialized training in Cancer surgeries for oral, thyroid , larygnx, skull base surgery, and voice-preserving cancer procedures. He also underwent formal training in clinical research through the Global Clinical Scholars Research Training Program at Harvard Medical School, USA, strengthening his evidence-based approach to cancer care.
Experience
Dr. Nemade has over 15 years of experience in managing complex head and neck cancers. He has worked at several prestigious institutions including Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, Tata Medical Center, Kolkata, and government medical college, where he was actively involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical students.
Since January 2015, he has been serving as a Consultant Head and Neck Surgical Oncologist at Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute, Hyderabad. The institute is a high-volume comprehensive cancer centre where more than 1,000 major head and neck cancer surgeries are performed annually. He is an integral part of the multidisciplinary cancer care team and is deeply involved in patient rehabilitation and long-term follow-up.
Dr. Nemade is also a recognized academic guide and mentor, actively contributing to training programs and professional education. He regularly participates in national and international conferences as invited faculty and speaker and is actively involved in cancer awareness initiatives for the public.
Community Engagement and Patient Support:
Dr. Nemade is deeply committed to cancer awareness, early detection, tobacco cessation and community outreach. He has actively participated in cancer screening programs, public education initiatives, and surgical camps in underserved regions. He played a key role in establishing structured head and neck cancer rehabilitation programs, including unique survivor support groups for patients who have undergone complex surgeries, ensuring holistic recovery beyond treatment.
Awards Recieved
He has received several national and international fellowships and has served as a Visiting Scholar at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taiwan, and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), USA. He was also awarded an International Travel Fellowship by the North American Skull Base Society.
