Admission may be in two ways: (1) Inpatient Admission (2) Day Care Admission

If the doctors decide to admit the patient either as Inpatient or for Day care, Inpatient Registration Desk will assist the patient with formalities. Based upon diagnosis, eligibility, priority and availability of room/bed, related allotments will be made to the patient.

In case of non-availability of the room in the desired category, the staff will put your name on a waiting list and will inform you of the availability. On a repeat admission, you can request a room in the desired category on telephone 040-23551235 in advance for a particular day. The admission staff will contact you telephonically on the availability of the room.

The admission counter has a schedule of charges for different categories of rooms. Depending on the type of room desired by the patient, the required amount has to be deposited before getting admitted.

An average estimate of your hospitalization, the cost will be given by your treating Doctor. The treating Doctor will explain to you an approximate estimate of the expenses that you might incur during your stay at the hospital. However, the clinical condition of the patient shall determine the actual treatment requirements. Such necessities, whenever they arise, may lead to variation in the treatment estimate.

To keep yourself updated on the expenses you have incurred until any point of time, you can request a provisional bill from the Ward Secretary / Billing Department. In case of any clarification regarding expenditure or estimate for further treatment you can request your Doctor for the same.

Good food is important in the treatment of the patients and is a part of total Patient Information.

The catering or dietary services of the hospital are perhaps one of the very important as being an image of the institution. Its basic concept is to provide nutritious, healthy and hygienic food for the patient. It’s well said, “Good food has Preventive, Curative and Rehabilitative value”. It enhances the immunity of the person by providing daily requirements of nutrients to the body therefore healthy eating habits go a long way in ensuring a healthy life.

The dietary department of the hospital is one of the support services, which cater to the dietary needs of the patients and staff working in the hospital. It is headed by three Dieticians. The dietary department ensures that patients are provided with a well-balanced nutritious diet. As per policy, only a vegetarian diet is provided in Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute.

Special care is taken to maintain proper hygienic conditions to avoid infection to the patients. The kitchen staff is given special training for various therapeutic diets that are served to the patient and about how to maintain food hygiene in the hospital.

The dietician is responsible for the food of the patients. Cyclic menus are followed according to the seasonal vegetables in the hospital for the patients. Meals are checked and tested by the Dietician before serving to the patient so as to ensure quality and hygienic food. Each dish is covered individually and transported in electronically heated trolleys.

Daily feedback is taken from the patients by the dietician about the quality and quantity of various foods being served and any modifications are incorporated in the patient’s menu. Patient satisfaction is the foremost priority in the hospital. We believe in providing the best cancer treatment to our patients. We are among the top 15 best cancer hospitals in India. Depending upon the patient’s requirement, various types of therapeutic diets are prepared like Renal diet, Diabetic diet, Neutropenic diet and Salt restricted diet, etc. Special care is taken to customize to the needs of all the patients. The patients are also given diet charts at the time of discharge for the necessary care.

The consultant in charge of the patient will decide when it is advisable for the patient to leave the hospital. A discharge summary or discharge advice will be explained and handed over to the patient /attendants for follow up treatment at home. Copies of all the investigations are made available to patients from time to time during your hospitalization.

It is important that you arrange to leave by discharge time so that we can prepare the bed and the room for new admission. It takes about 3 hours for the discharge formalities to be completed after the doctor advises discharge. If you are unable to leave by 12 noon, bed charges for half a day are added for the stay till 6:00 pm beyond which full day charges are billed to the patient.

Your bill will be a comprehensive one, with all charges included, and no payments should be outside of what is specified in your bill. All details of bed charges, investigations, doctor’s visit fees, surgeon’s fee and other charges are shown in the bill. In the case of clarifications, please approach the billing officer in the billing department.

All outstanding bills must be cleared promptly. At regular intervals, you will receive information on the charges accrued to your account from the billing department to help you clear your dues in time and facilitate your discharge.

Your admission/security deposit will be adjusted against your final bill at the time of discharge. The hospital is impaneled with reputed companies for the credit/cash treatment of patients referred to these companies.

If during your stay, you wish to upgrade your category to a higher one (for example, from General Ward to a single Room), all procedure charges applicable to that higher category shall be applicable for the entire duration of your stay.

Follow-Up Visits
You are required to come for follow up visits in the Outpatient department as advised at the time of discharge. It is advisable to take a prior appointment for a follow-up consultation visit. This will enable your consultant to assess your progress.

The distance from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport Hyderabad is 30 KMS. taxis are available ( Meru, Sky cab, Ola cabs-040 3355 3355, Taxi for sure 040 6060 1010, etc).

Secunderabad Railway station is 12 KMS and you can easily get a three-wheeler or cabs like OLA and taxi for sure. you can take a bus.

TSRTC bus facility is provided from Secunderabad Railway Station and MGBS (Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station).

By boarding buses going to Jubilee hills check posts from different points of the city will also bring you to the nearest walkable distance to reach the hospital.

The Pharmacy Department runs round the clock with In-patients and Out-patients Pharmacy services. Its managed by the well experienced and qualified pharmacy staff, who value services before self. SOCIAL WORK DEPARTMENT (SWD)
The Department of Social Work has clinical social workers to help patients, their families and friends cope with their cancer. SWD also assist them in dealing with psychological or social barriers to their treatment. Medico social worker assess the psychosocial functioning of patient and family member and intervenes as necessary, intervention include supportive counseling, grief counseling and family counseling.

COUNSELLING:

A cancer diagnosis can mean increased distress for patients and their families. Highly skilled and professionally trained, Social workers provide short-term and long term counseling free of charge. By counseling and adopting various approaches a confidence level is built up in the patient and their family members to cope up with the diagnosis and treatment.
